Good Seed Bad Seed Youth Radio

Students have spent the year working on programs focusing on The Taos Poetry Team, The Bag Fee which the studentds are proposing to the Town of Taos as well as looking at the state of the economy by interviewing an Economist from Adams State College and small buisness owners in the Northern NM village of Questa.  The students have developed stories, interviewed experts, written scripts, recorded one another and learned some editing skills.  The class, Radio Head, works to create original and informative programs that our partners at, KRZA 88.7 FM in Alamosa Colorado, are proud to aire.

Service Learning and Community Service

Roots and Wings is dedicated to Service Learning where students learn more about themselves and thier community by volunteering.  This year different "crews" or in our case at RWCS classes have volunteered at places such as the Men's Homeless Shelter in Taos where they helped in the facility and worked to build a bench for people to rest on, Sol Feliz Farm where students helped create compost and worked to gather rocks to create a water catchment system, they have picked up trash in the Lama and Red River Communities and this past week students created a safe path to walk on from the Highway up Lama road going through Dr. Bud Wilson's Land, they mended fences, and created measuring devises for the Lama Acequia.  Our students did this along side Students from Southern Methodist University who are involved in Alternative Breaks, Spring Breaks that they spend Volunteering rather than partying.  SMU students worked to help our community on the outside, on the ranch, in our library and in our school helping students with one on one tutoring with Teacher supervision.  The upcoming show will focus on this type of learning.
